The best fine-dining chef collaborations coming up in Hong Kong

The months of September and October between September and October in Hong Kong are packed with 

an array of exciting dining experiences that bring chefs from all over the globe for collaborative events.

Whether it’s sustainability-focused dining, Latin American flavors, authentic Italian cuisine, Thai-European fusion, reimagined Cantonese classics, or simply Michelin-star excellence, these special dinners offer opportunities to expand your culinary horizons, so catch them if you can.

Sabatini x Daniel Canzian

Hokkaido seafood, scallops, and wakame are served with crisp bread at Sabatini’s.      

Sabatini Restaurant Italiano in The Royal Garden will have Italian chef Daniel Canzian for four nights. Daniel Canzian Ristorante in Milan is renowned for its easy, seasonal Italian food.

The set lunch of four courses (HK$888) and the six-course meal set (HK$1,888) will include dishes like risotto made featuring Amalfi citrus, Hokkaido scallops, cold whole wheat spaghetti, Alaskan King crab and stewed fillet of turbot.

These dinners include an impressive lineup of 11 chefs and others who have had the privilege of working in The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong hotel for the last 18 years.

Amber alum dinner

Richard Ekkebus of two Michelin-starred Amber will host an 18th-anniversary celebration over three nights.

The Amber Alumni Return dinners feature an impressive lineup of 11 chefs and others who have worked at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong hotel for the last 18 years.

The main attraction is a 10-course tasting menu (HK$3,398) cooked by seven Michelin-starred international restaurant chefs who previously cooked in The Hotel or Amber the Amber, which includes Sidney Schutte from two Michelin-star Spectrum in Amsterdam.

7/F, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, 15 Queen’s Road Central, September 18 to 20

Yasutaka Daimon 70, the sixth generation keeper of Daimon sake brewery located in Japan, will be offering sake with Agustin Balbi’s cuisine for a special dinner with Ando.

On September 19th, you will be able to take part in a sake dinner (HK$2,888) in Ando In partnership in collaboration with Yasutaka Daimon, who is the sixth-generation sake master at the Osaka Daimon Brewery.

Roganic’s Sustainability Champion’s Dinner

Roganic is a Michelin Green Star recipient, hosts the Sustainability Champions celebration with other award-winning sustainability winners from around Asia, which includes chef Richie Lin of Mume in Taiwan, LG Han of Labyrinth in Singapore, and Jordy Navarra of Toyo Eatery in Manila.

This tasting menu, priced at $2,980, will showcase inventive ideas for local, seasonal produce and sustainable cooking methods.

The chefs claim that they can reduce their carbon footprint through the use of the freshest Hong Kong ingredients and show their dedication to sustainable fine dining.

The first dinner anniversary of Noi’s

Noi celebrates its first anniversary by hosting an all-hands meal (HK$3,800) with the chef who founded the restaurant, Paulo Airaudo, and Christian Bau of Victor’s Fine Dine, an award-winning restaurant with three Michelin stars in Germany.

Bau will be cooking using premium products of Plantin Kaviari, a supplier of caviar and truffles.

Rafael Cagali (left) from Da Terra in London, will be joining Antimo Maria Merone for a collaboration at Estro restaurant in Hong Kong.

Antimo Maria Merone of Estro is working alongside Rafael Cagali from London’s Da Terra to create a special menu. It was ranked number three on the UK National Restaurant Awards in 2023, and with 2 Michelin star ratings, Da Terra draws elements from Brazilian and Italian food. The eight-course menu costs HK$2,880 for a six-course meal and is offered for lunch for $1,880.

ArChan Chan and Jayson Tang will be collaborating for two nights to present “Duology of Chinese Traditions,” Re-imaginings of Cantonese food.      

Duology of Chinese Traditions

Two of Hong Kong’s modern Generation of Cantonese chefs, ArChan Chan of Ho Lee Fook and Jayson Tang of Man Ho Chinese Restaurant at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, are set to collaborate to create an “A Duology of Cantonese Traditions” set menu (HK$1,688).

The two-part food event takes place on the 11th of October with Man Ho China Restaurant. Man Ho Chinese Restaurant and on the 18th of October in Ho Lee Fook.

The menus, which are different every night, will include new interpretations of Cantonese dishes that are a result of the chefs’ childhoods, which blend traditional tastes with a contemporary new twist.

Juan Luis Martinez of Merito Restaurant in Lima, Peru, joins Ricardo Chaneton at Mono for two days of meals that are multi-course.

Ricardo Chneton, who is the chef at Mono, One of Hong Kong’s top Latin American restaurants, is teaming up with Chef Juan Luis Martinez of Merito in Lima, Peru, to provide a Latin American menu.

The multi-course tasting dinner is served at lunchtime at HK$1,980, and dinner for 2,980 HK$. A tequila pairing option using Mexican tequilas made by Volcan de Mi Tierra is available.
